Choose a control mode

The Controls menu in the player header has four options:

  • Auto: shows the virtual pad on touch-first devices and uses hardware input elsewhere.
  • On-screen: always shows the touch controller.
  • Keyboard: keeps touch controls hidden and uses browser key input.
  • Controller: keeps touch controls hidden while you use a connected gamepad.

The separate PAD button is a quick on/off switch for the on-screen controller.

Common keyboard controls

Every supported system uses the arrow keys for its directional pad. Space is a convenient main-action shortcut and Enter is Start where the console has a Start button.

DOSPhysical keyboard and mouse input pass directly to DOS; each game keeps its own controls

Mega Drive quick start: use the normal arrow keys to move, Space for B and Enter for Start. The six face-button alternatives remain available for games that use them.

DOS input: Space remains an ordinary spacebar instead of the console shortcut. DOSBox Pure also provides an on-screen keyboard and controller mapper in its emulator menu.

If the keyboard does not respond

  1. Click or tap the game once so the player has focus.
  2. Close any open emulator menu or browser dialog.
  3. Select Keyboard or Auto from the Controls menu.
  4. Try an arrow key, then Space. Browser shortcuts can intercept other keys.
  5. Reload the player if the browser window lost input after switching tabs or devices.

Use touch controls on a phone or tablet

Auto mode normally displays a directional pad and the buttons needed by the selected console. If it does not appear, select On-screen or tap PAD.

Landscape orientation gives the game and controls more horizontal room. Use Full screen to remove browser chrome; an Exit full screen button remains inside the game surface. The Awake toggle can ask the device to keep the display on during play.

Connect a gamepad

Connect by USB or pair the controller in the device’s Bluetooth settings. Open a game and press a controller button once. Browsers commonly wait for that interaction before exposing a gamepad to a page.

A standard-mapped controller should work in Auto or Controller mode. The footer changes from “No controller detected” to the controller name when the browser reports it. Non-standard controllers can have different button ordering.

Play fullscreen or on a TV browser

The player supports ordinary browser fullscreen at phone, desktop and 1080p TV-sized layouts. Pair the gamepad with the device running the browser, open fun.study, launch the game and select Full screen.

If the TV browser has limited WebAssembly or gamepad support, connect a laptop or compact computer to the TV with HDMI and run the same browser experience there. No casting receiver is required.

Input tips

  • Use one primary input type at a time if a controller produces unexpected duplicate actions.
  • Keep the browser page active; background tabs may pause emulation and stop input polling.
  • Use the emulator settings menu for per-core remapping when a game needs a different layout.
  • Export important saves before clearing browser data or moving to another device.
